ETERNAL SQUABBLERS LEAGUE
WINTER SURVEY FOR 2006 SEASON RULE CHANGES

1. ENTRANCE FEE - no change.

2. CASH ALL CHECKS IMMEDIATELY - PASSED

3. RESERVE ROSTER SALARIES - no change.

4. USE ALL-STAR STATS AUTOMATED FAAB SYSTEM? - PASSED

1. ENTRANCE FEE

The present entrance fee is $220. $40 of that goes to All-Star Stats and $15 of it goes to me because I need the money for my coke habit. Is there any desire to raise that fee?

0.5 - No, actually, Id like it lowered to $175
    6.5 - I=m a loser and it=s juuuuuust right at $220
    0 - Raise it to $225
    2 - Raise it to $250
    0 - Raise it to $275
    1 - Raise it to $300

I wouldn=t want anyone to quit because we are playing for too much money. If everyone votes for $300 and one person would quit if we play for $275 or more, we=ll only raise it to $274.

    0 - $1.76 limit
 1.5 - $220 limit
    1 - $250
    1.5 - $300
    5 - No limit

Comments regarding this question:
"It's all just a donation to Jolie's college fund anyway.  How much will she need to attend MIT?" -- Scott Winterburn

"Michael is getting married in May so we need to help the kid out." -- Drew Gallagher

"I think I will just write a check out for Chris instead of delaying the inevitable..oh wait, Chris didn't actually win!" -- Michael Moyer

2. CASH ALL CHECKS IMMEDIATELY

You'll notice that you only have one selection for this "question."  This is because this has to happen to close a loop-hole.  Drew pointed out that teams that don't pay their entrance fee are not allowed to make transactions, but if a person gives a check from a bank account without sufficient funds, that team would be able to make moves throughout the year, only for us to find out at the end of the year that that team never really paid after all.  The easy solution is that all checks should be cashed immediately.

10 - That's a good point!  I agree, all checks should be cashed right away!

Comments regarding this question:
"I sorta like checks bouncing.  It makes balancing my checking account so much fun!" -- Scott Winterburn

"Sounds good." -- Lorenzo Paul

"All checks should be in a certified format!" -- Michael Moyer

3. RESERVE ROSTER SALARIES

When we drafted 17 players in the reserve roster, the salaries of players in Rounds 3 through 17 went from $15, down through $1, which each round going down by $1.

Then we reduced the reserve draft to just TEN rounds and made every player either $5 if he was a rookie, or $10 for all other players (and rookies on major league rosters.)

Last year we changed it to a 10 round graduated system that looks like this...

Round 1 - $10 or $5 if player is a rookie in the minors
Round 2 - $10 or $5 if player is a rookie in the minors
    Round 3 - $10
    Round 4 - $9
    Round 5 - $8
    Round 6 - $6
    Round 7 - $5
    Round 8 - $3
    Round 9 - $2
    Round 10 - $1

Someone suggested going back to the previous system where players are $5 if they are rookies in the minors, or $10 for all other player just to keep it simple.

 9 - Leave it the way it is, $10/5, $10/5, $10, $9, $8, $6, $5, $3, $2, $1
1 - Good idea, switch it back to $10 or $5 for all players no matter what round they are drafted

Comments regarding this question:
"I like the way it is.  I love inflation." -- Jamie Schlesinger

"Leave it." -- Lorenzo Paul

4. USE ALL-STAR STATS
    AUTOMATED FAAB SYSTEM?

Someone suggested that we use the All-Star Stats automated FAAB system instead of emailing bids to Steve Stremba.  The cost is the same.  All-Star Stats charges $50 for that feature, and we've been paying Steve $50 to take care of the bids each week.

The draw-back to the All-Star Stats service is that it would eliminate the "creative" bidding that we presently allow.  (For example, you wouldn't be able to submit a list of 6 players that says "I want just 3 of the following players.")

The benefit is that you don't have to wait for me to enter the winning bids later in the day when I'd return home from work.

4 - I like being able to submit bids the way I really want them, keep using Steve Stremba
6 - I would prefer the All-Star Stats automated evaluator system

Comments regarding this question:
"I like using Steve.  He's cute and articulate!" -- Scott Winterburn

"Stremba needs the money to pay for his first round exit in the Sudden Death Pool." -- Jamie Schlesinger

"I like Steve but I have to believe it (using the Stat Service) would make his life easier.  Plus, you're in York all the time now!" -- Drew Gallagher

"I like the Steve system." -- Lorenzo Paul

"I will do the bids for $50 per week." -- Michael Moyer [I don't think so.  You had me and Drew to look up to as you were growing up.  Do you think we can trust you after having that kind of guidance throughout your life? -- YPCM]
