Best 2001 FAAB Pick-Ups

Golden Gabes Mike DeJean $1 #1 In a year this wound up being one of the Top-10 FAAB pick-ups of all-time.  In 2001 he did this: 3 W, 2 S, 2.49 ERA, 1.01 Ratio in 80 IP.  He was kept in 2002 and became the Brewers closer.  His #'s in 2002: 1 W, 27 SAVES!, 3.12 ERA, 1.40 Ratio in 75 IP.  Pete made him $6 in 2003, and things fell apart:  5 W, 19 Saves, 4.68 ERA, 1.51 Ratio.  He lost his closer job to Dan Kolb and then was traded to the Cardinals.
Gerryatrics Juan Uribe $6 #1 .309-8-53-3 in 256 AB, and wound up being a keeper in 2002, although his #'s declined significantly (.240-6-49-9 in 566 ABs.)  He was injured to start 2003, and was thrown back in the draft.
Golden Gabes Craig Wilson $7 #3 He didn't play much, but .301-8-25-1 in 136 AB for a guy that qualified at catcher is nice.  He wound up being a keeper for 2002 (.264-16-57-2.)  He wasn't kept in 2003.
Wormburners Chad Fox $10 #2 He was supposed to become the Brewers' closer.  It didn't happen, but he still pitched well:  5 W, 2 S, 2.01 ERA, 1.20 Ratio.
Malcontents
(Rob. Huskies)		 Scott Stewart $2 #18 I drafted him and he did well for me: 3 W, 1 S, 2.51 ERA in 14 IP, but I sent him to Scott Metcalfe in the off-season for a draft pick and he did this in 2002: 4 W, 17 SAVES!, 3.09 ERA, 1.11 Ratio in 64 IP!  He was kept again in 2003 and did nothing but middle relief as Rocky Biddle stole the closers job.
Scottsmen Miguel Batista $1 #17 It took 2+ years for this to pay off, but eventually it did.  He did admirally in the last 2 months of 2001: 3 W, 3.09 ERA, 1.16 Ratio in 32 IP.  Dale kept him for $1 in 2002 and he did almost nothing: 3 W, 4.65 ERA, 1.46 Ratio in 108 IP.  Dale saw something in that, and kept him yet again, and it's good he did:  9-8, 3.76 ERA, 1.35 Ratio in 160 IP.  Not bad for $1.
Wormburners Rob Mackowiak $1 #10 He only gave about a buck's worth in 2001: .259-2-13-3.  I have no idea what Scott saw in those numbers, but he kept him for 2002 and it paid off to a small degree - .247-16-47-9.  Unfortunately Scott went to the well one too many times, as he came crashing back to earth in 2003: .253-3-14-5 in 154 AB.
Gerryatrics Kevin Jarvis $1 #7 9 wins for a buck, not bad (4.47 ERA, 1.24 Ratio).  He was kept in 2002, but his luck ran out, as he pitched just 30 horrid innings before spending the rest of the year on the DL.
E-Z Does It Fred McGriff $38 #17 There were a lot of underperforming big FAAB selections from the AL this year.  McGriff was one of the few who did well:  .277-12-39-0 in just August and September.
Scottsmen Jose Ortiz $30 #16 He paid handsomely for him, but he did more than most expected him to do:  .257-13-35-3 over the last 2-1/2 months.
Wormburners Jay Powell $1 #20 He only had him for 5 weeks, but he definitely got a buck's worth of stats:  1 W, 6 saves!, 2.65 ERA, 1.47 Ratio in 17 IP.
