Where I Work: |
As of the
10-year reunion Audrey was still working at Widow Finney's - one of my
all-time favorite places to eat.
She had been working there since she was in high school, and was a
manager at the restaurant. Soon after the 10-year
reunion, Audrey left her job at Widow Finney's for a new job at CNA. Immediately after,
the restaurant went bankrupt and closed, most likely because Audrey
stopped working there ... For a brief time, Audrey was working part-time
at The Peanut Bar for extra money ... CNA was purchased by All-State and
renamed Encompass Insurance. She is still working for them, doing special projects and
a lot of traveling. In fact,
she lived in Chicago for almost a year. According to Audrey in early 2001, she
has spent most of the previous year and a half at the airport. |
Chris Mal Notes: |
Who is "Mr.
American Flag Undies"? In my
year-book, Audrey wrote to me, "Remember
going to lunch with Ralph, BK, Mel and Mr. American Flag Undies."
I have no idea who this person was/is.
Audrey was a proud member of
the Mount Penn Varsity Bowling team.
What was "RRT's with CJM/AAA"? I know it was
"Rail
Road Tracks with Chris Mal/Audrey Acker",
but I can't remember what that
meant. I do remember being surprised that they let it in the senior
memories, but why? I also notice that Dave Blose put it in HIS
"senior memories". What did Blose have to do with this?
Audrey was working part-time for a brief time at The Peanut Bar. I ran into her
10/03/97 when I had a surprise 30th birthday party for my lovely wife.
Audrey had a unique Pete Rose-like batting stance.
In 2001 I came to learn that Audrey Ann was known as Orgee
Ann by her closest friends in high school. According to Marta,
"...the only problem is, that I can't remember why we (or should I
say I) ever started calling her that. I seem to remember that it
was one of those stupid teenage things, like you start slurring someone's
name and the next thing you know you're calling them something REALLY
stupid." Ummm...Orgee Ann is not really stupid. I kind
of like it. I particularly would have liked to take part in
it. Tee-hee. (Correction: According to Marta, "I don't think all of Audrey's
close friends called her Orgee Ann...I think it was me, maybe Suzanna
and maybe Cori...possibly even just me.")
In the small-world category, I ran into an old friend of mine - Chad
Endy - at the Sovereign Center at the
Barenaked Ladies concert on
11/21/01. Chad went to Exeter and used to play Stickball with me and my
friends from Pennside when I was about 15 and Chad was about 9 or 10.
Chad is now working for Audrey at Encompass Insurance. He said he likes
Audrey's batting stance.
More for the small-world category: In 1992,
Audrey became Jeff Hoyt's step-sister when Audrey's dad married Jeff's
mom. Jeff is a MPHS Class of '87 graduate.
See the color class picture of Audrey at
the very top of the page? I didn't get a hold of the original copy
of Audrey's picture. That is a PhotoShop trick that I learned.
I'm reading a book about PhotoShop and I got to a section called "Color
Mode." One of the fun uses of "Color Mode" is turn black-and-white
photos into color. Audrey was the guinea pig since her name began
with "A." It came out pretty darn good, don't you think?
In the 1983 Senior Class Will (found in the
June 1983 issue of Penn Post), Robin
Tobias left all the dandelions at the middle school to Audrey Acker. |
