This is me taking a picture of myself just before going
into the O.R. They leave you out there for 15 minutes by yourself
(which seems like about 15 DAYS), so I thought I'd test out the camera
to pass the time.

This is the first picture of Jolie that Bev is allowing for
public viewing - taken just a minute after birth. There were about a
dozen that I took before this one just as the baby was coming out of Bev's
belly. Lots of blood and guts - cool! Jolie was VERY healthy
from her very first breath. She got Apgar scores of 8 and 9.

Here is Jolie all cleaned up and wrapped up, ready to go
about 5 minutes after she was born!
|
This is a picture of Bev seeing Jolie for the very first
time. The expression on Bev's face is priceless, enough to bring
tears to your eyes. We had waited a lot time and gone through quite
a bit to finally get to this moment.
|
Then after getting sewed back up, Bev goes off to recovery,
while the Dad with the camera gets to follow the baby. I felt like a
tourist in the hospital - I must've taken about 100 pictures that first
day! This is a picture of Jolie getting her footprints taken.
She was not happy about this!

This
is a cool picture of Jolie's feet with the ink just before getting her
footprints taken.

Finally Bev and the baby both make it back to the recovery
room a couple hours after the surgery. Both baby and mom are
rightfully exhausted but very happy. Considering all she's been
through, I think Bev looks amazing in this picture.

Here's Jolie all bundled up and content in her bassinette
in the recovery room.
|
Then it was back to the nursery for a good bath and to get
Jolie's hair washed. She absolutely hated getting washed, but,
oddly, it was like she melted when they put her head under the warm
running water. We've used this trick a couple times already at home
to calm her down.

This is a picture of Jolie in the hospital nursery
underneath the heat lamp after her first bath.

Another picture from the nursery after her bath.
She was about 3 hours old at this point.
|
Then finally mom, dad and baby were sent to their room on
the mother/baby unit. This is a picture of Jolie yawning.
Being born is extremely hard work apparently!
|
Aunt Beth was one of Jolie's first visitors!
|
Here's Jolie with her proud Pop-Pop Malinowski who
celebrated her birth just a week later by falling down the steps at home
and breaking his ankle!

Jolie and her Nanny Malinowski! What wrinkle-free
skin and white teeth Nanny M. has!
